I’ve been using Macs on and off for a couple of years now but since using a MacBook on a daily basis i’ve been constantly frustrated by the poor mouse acceleration that OS X uses. On top of that, there’s no way to change the mouse acceleration!

Having done a quick search I can see that this frustrates alot of other people, many cite SteerMouse as partially improving the problem, it allows you to modify the standard mouse acceleration built into OS X, which i’ll admit does improve the issue slightly. However after using it for the 30-day trial, I decided it just wasn’t for me and went on the lookout for something better.

The official Microsoft Intellipoint drivers fayred no better (i’m using a standard 5-button intellimouse), but I stumbled across a link in a comments section on a blog directing me to MouseFix, this is a fantastic tiny little application written by a likewise frustrated developer, he wrote and tested it on an old G5 running Tiger, but it works on my Intel-Macbook running Leopard absolutely fine. The mouse movements/acceleration still feel a tiny bit off, but this will more than do!
